“It is with regret that I accept the resignation of Mrs. Catherine Weaver as Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Wilmington. At the same time, however, I sincerely wish Mrs. Weaver every success in her new position as Vice President for Ministry and Mission for St. Francis Hospital. Our loss is St. Francis Hospital’s gain.

“Mrs. Weaver has been our Superintendent of Schools for nearly six years, and she served as an Assistant Superintendent for four years. Prior to assuming her duties in the Diocese’s Schools Office, Mrs. Weaver was Principal of Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Liftwood, Wilmington. In all those many years of service Mrs. Weaver has been a model of dedication and professionalism for our teachers, principals, and administrators in all our Catholic schools.

“Integrity, patience, dependability, spiritual, and compassionate are but a few words that describe Mrs. Weaver’s dedicated work to advance Catholic education and gospel values. In addition to challenging our schools to be the best academically, it has been Mrs. Weaver’s special endeavor that each school mirror Christian values in its daily life.  She is a woman who lives her Catholic faith and who shares that faith.

“With deep gratitude for her life and service to us in our Diocese we wish Mrs. Weaver all the best. May the Holy Spirit guide her as she embarks on yet another career and ministry.

” To succeed Mrs. Weaver I am appointing Dr. Louis DeAngelo Superintendent of Schools effective November 1, 2012. Dr. DeAngelo has been an Assistant Superintendent here in our Diocese since 2007. Before coming to our Diocese he served as Director of Curriculum and Instruction K-12 and Staff Development for the Archdiocesan Schools in Philadelphia. He has been a principal, teacher, and college professor. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Neumann University. Dr. DeAngelo brings a passionate belief in Catholic Schools and years of hands on experience to his new position.”
