75 years in Bellefonte: St. Helena’s a stabilizing force in community

BELLEFONTE – St. Helena’s has served the Bellefonte area north of Wilmington for 75 years, and last Saturday, Nov. 5, Bishop Malooly celebrated the 5 p.m. Mass to help the parish mark the anniversary.

A dinner in the parish hall followed Mass. On Sunday, Nov. 6, there was an afternoon of remembrance at 3 p.m. for all deceased parishioners.

Bishop thanks priests of diocese at Mass for jubilarians

More than 40 priests of the diocese concelebrated a Nov. 3 Mass with Bishop Malooly at St. Ann’s Church in Wilmington in observance of 16 priests who have reached significant anniversaries of their ordinations this year.

Two priests of the diocese celebrating 50years of priesthood participated in the liturgy: Msgr. Joseph F. Rebman, vicar general for pastoral services and pastor of St. Joseph on the Brandywine in Greenville, and Father Stanley J. Russell, 75, who is pastor of St. Helena’s in Wilmington.
