PERRYVILLE, Md. — Something about the Eastern Shore brought out a previously hidden religious vocation in Kathy Flood.

The New York native heard a mid-life call to become a Franciscan sister after a job transfer sent her to Maryland and into the welcoming community of Good Shepherd Parish in Perryville.

 PERRYVILLE, Md. — As pastor of Good Shepherd Parish in Perryville, Md., Father Jay McKee has his hands full. The parish includes three churches, a school and an inactive chapel.

The main complex is at Good Shepherd, just off Route 40 on the banks of the Susquehanna River. That’s the location of the parish offices and Good Shepherd School. The parish also includes St. Agnes Church in Rising Sun, St. Teresa Church in Port Deposit, and St. Patrick’s Chapel in Pilottown, although that is inactive and hosts Mass just once a year.

Surprise reunion at Good Shepherd School

 PERRYVILLE, Md. – Antonio “Tony” Halsey and his classmates in the second grade at Good Shepherd School stood on the stage in the auditorium Friday afternoon, Dec. 1, telling the rest of the students and faculty what they had learned in preparation for their first reconciliation, which they would celebrate the next day.

The second-graders explained what reconciliation is and what activities they had planned for Saturday. They then led the school in reciting the Act of Contrition.
