St. Mark’s student wins writing contest
WILMINGTON – St. Mark’s junior Hannah Falchuk was the winner of this year’s Common Wealth Awards Writing Contest, in which Delaware high school students compete to meet the recipients of the Common Wealth Awards. Those awards recognize four individuals for lifetime achievements in a range of endeavors.
Falchuk and her parents will attend the black-tie gala this Saturday at the Hotel DuPont. In her essay, she explained why she would like to meet David McCullough, an author and historian who is being honored in the literature category. Read more »

Mount Aviat receives three science grants
CHILDS, Md. – Mount Aviat Academy has $1,200 to spend on energy- and environmental-related lessons thanks to three grants the school received recently from Delmarva Power. Mount Aviat was one of three 10 Maryland schools to receive the funding. Read more »
CYM crowns softball, baseball champions
St. Mary Magdalen wins CYM softball
STANTON – St. Mary Magdalen completed an undefeated season with a 6-3 win over Immaculate Heart of Mary in the Catholic Youth Ministry softball championship, which was played May 22 at Delaware Technical and Community College.
St. Mary Magdalen pitcher Rachel Pritchard struck out 13 batters in the winning effort. Kiersten Fallers had three hits and scored twice for the Bulldogs.
IHM played in the championship game for the third straight season and finished the year 9-2.
