DESTINATION (DAY 10): Today, the pilgrims rose early, had a quick breakfast and jumped on their buses for the short ride to Saint Peter’s Square. It was the day we had been waiting for. The time had come to see Pope Francis up close and personal during his Wednesday Morning Audience.

Diary of #CDOW150th: Visit to Assisi, home of St. Francis and St. Clare

DESTINATION (Day Nine): After breakfast, pilgrims boarded the three buses (blue, red & green) and took the three-hour trip to the Umbria region, the location of Assisi, the  home of Saint Francis and Saint Clare.

Diary of #CDOW150th: Following the footsteps of Christ

DESTINATION (Day Six): Today we had early Mass at the 12th century Basilica of St. Clement in Rome. This church has a special meaning for our bishop since it was the Titular Church of Cardinal Lawrence Shehan, who,  as Archbishop of Baltimore in 1970, called Bishop Malooly to Holy Orders.

Father Nicholas Waseline, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua, dies at 67

Father Nicholas R. Waseline, OSFS, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua parish in Wilmington, died Wednesday morning, April 18, after an illness. He was 67.

“We learned that Father Nicholas Waseline, OSFS, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua passed away around 9am this morning,” Msgr. Steven P. Hurley, vicar general of the Diocese of Wilmington, said from Annecy, France where a group of 135 people are part of a pilgrimage led by Bishop Malooly. They are marking the 150th anniversary of the diocese.

Diary of #CDOW150th: Walking in footsteps of patron saint

TheDialog.org is following the #CDOW150th as 135 people travel for a pilgrimage to France and Rome to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Diocese of Wilmington.
DESTINATION (Day 3): It’s always good advice to bring good walking shoes. After breakfast, pilgrims gathered in their hotels (we are spread out among three hotels in Annecy) and departed for a two-hour walking tour of this beautiful city, “the Venice of the Savoy.”
HIGHLIGHTS: Local guides took CDOW visitors to the Church of Saint Francis de Sales, the Cathedral of St. Peter and various sites where SFdS and Saint Jane de Chantal lived, worked, and prayed. This evening, we gather at the Basilica of the Visitation, for Mass in the presence of the relics of these two saints.
