MILLTOWN – Tower Hill was engaged in a close battle with St. Mark’s Tuesday afternoon in nonconference field hockey action, but the second-ranked Hillers used a seven-goal second half to turn back a game Spartans squad, 9-0.

Tower Hill (4-0) received three goals from senior Sophie Peipher and a pair from sophomore Isabelle Pilson. Peipher scored off a penalty corner, with the assist to Lexi Butler. Butler added her own goal with 16:15 to go in the first half, and Tower led by the pair at intermission. St. Mark’s goalkeeper Gillian Bruce was the main reason the advantage wasn’t larger; she finished with 11 saves for the game.

Peipher found the net for the second time just 17 seconds into the second half, and Allie Salter netted the Hillers’ fourth three minutes later. Pilson again fed Peipher to make the score 5-0. Pilson tallied Tower Hill’s next two goals, and Kiva Walsh and Abby Manning completed the scoring.

St. Mark’s (0-3) hosts Caravel on Thursday at 3:45 p.m., while Tower Hill travels to Pennsylvania on Thursday to meet Episcopal Academy at 4 p.m.
