The fall boys season heats up as the soccer state tournament starts this week, and the football regular season comes to an end.

Soccer (seedings in parentheses)
Division II first round
Wednesday
soccer(12) St. Georges Tech (8-5-2) vs. (5) Archmere (10-5) at Caravel, 6 p.m. The Auks had a great season and have a great chance to make noise in this tournament.  Sean Murray is a dangerous player for Archmere, especially on free kicks.  The Hawks are a tough team and gave many teams headaches this year.
Quarterfinals
Saturday
Division I: (8) Sussex Tech (9-5) vs. (1) Salesianum (13-1-1) at Dover, 7 p.m. The Sals are the favorite to win their seventh straight championship, but they face a tough Ravens team in the state capital.
Division II: St. Georges/Archmere winner vs. (4) Newark Charter, site and time TBA.
St. Mark’s (8-4-4) vs. (3) Tower Hill (13-2), site and time TBA

Football
Friday
footballSt. Mark’s (6-3) at Salesianum (6-3), 7:30 p.m. This Holy War showdown is big for both teams in the regular season final. The Sals could get a first round home game with the win against their rival. The Spartans need a win if they want to be in the Division II tournament and would love the road upset. The Spartans have to stop the Sals’ ground attack, while Salesianum has to slow down the Spartans’ passing.
Saturday
Archmere (4-5) at St. Elizabeth (4-5), 7 p.m. at Baynard Stadium. A win for Archmere would give them three in their final four games. The Vikings have had halftime leads their last two contests and look to finish the game and season strong.
