Glavin’s six-goal effort paces Auks lax past Tower Hill

CLAYMONT – Archmere trailed Tower Hill, 4-3, after one quarter of the teams’ nonconference boys lacrosse game on April 1. But a natural hat trick from senior Xavier Glavin to open the second gave the Auks a lead they would not relinquish in a 12-7 win.

Glavin’s first goal, and his second of the game, came 4:16 into the second quarter when a pass toward the net hit his stick and deflected past Hillers goalie Michael Gianforcaro. Glavin struck again just 26 seconds later. This time, on a delayed penalty call on Tower Hill, he slipped one through an opening into the net. Read more »

Late touchdown dooms Auks on road at Tatnall, 22-18

GREENVILLE – It took Tatnall’s football team five minutes to score on the Hornets’ last drive of the game Sept. 24 against Archmere, but the rewards were worth the wait. The final play from the Hornets was a screen pass from Carl Marvin to Sam Ragland, and the senior running back took it 17 yards to the end zone to give Tatnall a 22-18 win over the Auks in nonconference action.

It was the third touchdown on the afternoon for the elusive Ragland, and the first through the air. Tatnall improved to 2-1 while ending the Auks’ seven-game winning streak dating back to the middle of last season. Read more »

Auks roll to shutout win over Conrad in boys lacrosse

WILMINGTON – Archmere got off to a slow start in its boys lacrosse game April 11 at Conrad. But the Auks sped up the pace in the second quarter, putting the Redskins away en route to a 17-0 Diamond State Athletic Conference victory.

 

Up by a pair of goals at the end of a quarter, the Auks asserted their dominance in the second. Mitchell Moyer scored his second goal of the game just 14 seconds into the second, taking a Ben Revak shot that clanged off the post and putting it past Conrad goalie Christian DeAngelo. Read more »
