It didn’t take Father Tim McIntire long to come up with a name when the Eternal Word Television Network reached out and asked for a student parishioner at St. Thomas More Oratory on the campus of the University of Delaware.

The pastor of the parish in Newark had several choices in mind, but pointed the national Catholic television network to Kathleen Knesek. The university senior said she was interviewed by EWTN for its “In Depth” program about her Lenten plans and how as a young Catholic college student she has held onto her faith.

A production team was on campus March 18. The program airs Friday, March 22, at 8 p.m.

“We discussed advice for how to embrace faith in college and why having a grounding in faith can help guide students through the college experience,” Knesek, a native of Texas, wrote in an email to The Dialog.

The network describes the weekly one-hour program as a discussion of current events in the church, politics and culture from a Catholic perspective. It says host Montse Alvarado covers the under-reported stories, clarifying the church’s position on key teachings with a focus on the laity’s needs and concerns.
