CLAYMONT — Conrad’s defense kept Archmere ffrom getting too many good looks, and the Red Wolves were opportunistic on offense in a 3-0 boys soccer win on Coaches Field on Sept. 13.
The Auks had some deep throw-ins and a corner kick in the opening minutes, but the teams settled into a ball-control game that lasted through much of the first half. Finally, in the 38th minute, the Red Wolves sent a through ball down the left side. Leonardo Marquez caught up to the ball and shot the ball low past Auks keeper Mason Kohl for the 1-0 lead. JuanCarlos Santos picked up the assist, his first of two on the afternoon.
Kohl kept the Auks just a goal back with some quality saves early in the second. Archmere had a chance in the 56th, turning a Conrad corner kick into a counter that was stopped by Red Wolves goalkeeper Daniel Lopez-Lopez.
Silas Foester added to Conrad’s lead in the 64th minute, picking up a rebound after a save by Kohl and finishing to make it 2-0. Jax Winterringer closed out the scoring in the 77th.
