Salesianum School begins its defense of the DIAA Class 3A football championship on Aug. 29 at home against Episcopal Academy (Pa.) as part of the Mid-Atlantic Pigskin Classic at Abessinio Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:45 p.m., and tickets are available here.

The Sals enter the 2024 season as one of the favorites in their class; the only time they have won consecutive titles was in 2005-06. They have 26 seniors and 26 juniors, with returning or new talent at every position on the field who will present a challenge to all of Delaware’s other contenders.

Brady McBride has cemented himself as the starting quarterback. The senior will be handing off to junior Odell Teel, who has joined the Sals this season, along with Jasir Gaymon and Aiden Lego. Billy Neumann is among the team’s receivers. Defensively, Rutgers commit R.J. Johnson leads the line, with LJ Smith at linebacker and Yaheem Smith patrolling the defensive backfield.

The Sals have a tough schedule ahead of them, beginning at home this week. The home schedule — and the regular season — concludes with a visit from rival Saint Mark’s, who will play against the Sals at Abessinio for the first time.
