OCEAN CITY, Md. — The southeast corner of the Holy Savior Church parking lot at St. Mary Star of the Sea parish has a new attraction in a Wayside shrine that keeps watch over the intersection of Philadelphia Ave. and 17th Street.
Parishioner Alex Piela, along with several other scouts that came out to help him complete his Eagle Scout project, installed the Wayside Shrine on the southeast corner of the parking lot on Dec. 5.
The addition to the parish campus has already attracted attention to the parish at the beach resort.
The shrine is visible to the street and visitors are encouraged to stop and check it out.
A message on the parish Facebook page highlighted the project: “Thank you so much for those of you that supported Alex and thank you so much Alex for a job well done!”
