Father Balducelli to be remembered on Catholic Forum on Aug. 5 & 12

Catholic Forum, the radio program/podcast produced by the Office of Communications of the Diocese of Wilmington, will present a two-part interview with Rev. Roberto Balducelli, the Oblate of Saint Francis de Sales priest, on its Aug. 5 and Aug. 12, 2018 programs. The programs are scheduled to coincide with the five-year anniversary of the legendary priest’s passing. Father Balducelli died on Aug. 9, 2013, the day before his 100th birthday, although when he passed, it was already his birthday in Italy, the country of his birth.

The interview was recorded in 2006 to mark the 70th anniversary of his ordination to the

priesthood. In it, Father Roberto’s talks about his childhood and calling to the priesthood in Italy, his work in France and Italy, the Saint Anthony of Padua Church Italian Festival, Via Crucis, Padua Academy, and Saint Anthony in the Hills. He also remembers his first encounters with Father John Francis Tucker, the first American-born Oblate and founding pastor of Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Wilmington.
