- Don’t miss this! Catholics and other people of faith will gather in Ocean City, Md. for the Diocesan Eucharistic Congress set for Saturday, Oct. 5. Join other faithful from around the diocese to deepen your faith and fellowship and connect with Jesus in the Eucharist. There will be a ministry fair, and speakers in breakout sessions tailored to various interests and age groups. - On Sept. 27, at 6 & 7:30 p.m., author Philip Campbell will speak at IHM School Hall, 4701 Weldin Rd., Wilmington. At 6 p.m., Campbell will present Homeschooling History at Each Grade Level, geared toward homeschooling parents and at 7:30, The Continuing Legacy of the Reformation in the United States. - This weekend, St. Margaret of Scotland Church is hosting the Fifth Annual Outdoor Marketplace on Sept. 28 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come look for treasures, gifts and delicious concessions provided by various crafters, vendors, flea marketers and the church’s Activities Committee. This rain or shine event will be held in the parking lot of St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark.
- Also on Sept. 28, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. the Diocese of Wilmington Annual Marian Pilgrimage will take place at Holy Spirit Church, 12 Winder Rd., New Castle. Keynote speaker is Fr. Sebastian White, OP, editor of Magnificat magazine. The Pilgrimage begins with morning Mass at 10 a.m. and concludes with the Vigil Mass at 4 p.m. Bishop Koenig will preside. In addition to Father White’s presentation, the pilgrimage will also include confessions, the Rosary, and Eucharistic Adoration. All are welcome. More information, www.cdow.org/marianpilgrimage/
- On Sept. 29, be sure to check out Mount Aviat’s Annual Roast Beef Dinner, 399 Childs Road, Childs, Md. (Just minutes from Newark.) - On Oct. 4 & 5, be sure to check out St. John the Apostle’s 31st Annual Oktoberfest. Lots of entertainment, plus the international food court will be serving up their traditional German entrees, along with Italian, Spanish, Polish, Irish, Hamburgers, Hot dogs, French Fries, Italian Ice, Funnel Cake and homemade baked desserts. Activities for kids, including inflatables such as the obstacle course, face painting, pumpkin painting and a petting zoo, fire truck rides and little train rides.
