U.S. Court of Appeals judges Thomas Ambro and Kent Jordan receive St. Thomas More Award in Diocese of Wilmington

Judge Thomas L. Ambro, and Judge Kent A. Jordan, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, were awarded the St. Thomas More Award at the St. Thomas More Society of the Diocese of Wilmington Annual Dinner on May 5 at the Wilmington Country Club.

Diocese of Wilmington Bishop Koenig and Bishop Malooly, bishop emeritus, were among those who joined the event.

Judge Ambro joined the Third Circuit in February 2000. Judge Jordan joined the Third Circuit in December 2006.

The society’s criteria for the St. Thomas More Award are:

–  Strong and pervasive sense of justice.
–  Personal courage and conviction.
–  Commitment to law, community and religion.
–  Keen scholarly pursuits and advancement of knowledge.
–  High degree of intelligence, honesty and integrity, humility and humor.
–  Record of personal sacrifice for the good of the community.
–  Dedicated to children, spouse, family and associates.

The first recipient of the award was the Judge Collins J. Seitz, Sr., in 1989.
