Saint Francis Hospital is celebrating its 100th anniversary of serving the community of Wilmington, and invites members of the Catholic community in the diocese to attend a special event to mark the occasion.
On Wednesday, Oct. 16, the date on which the hospital was dedicated by Bishop John J. Monaghan in 1924, Bishop William Koenig, the current Diocese of Wilmington bishop, will celebrate a centennial Mass at 10 a.m. in the hospital chapel.
Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, who once served at the hospital, will be present as special guests.
Following the Mass there will be a meet-and-greet opportunity with the bishop and sisters, during which refreshments will be served.
A blessing and re-dedication will be offered by the bishop at noon. All are welcome.
Saint Francis Hospital is located at 701 N. Clayton Street, Wilmington.
