WILMINGTON, Del. – Nativity Preparatory School of Wilmington is proud to announce a classroom sponsorship initiative with Barclays US Consumer Bank, providing teachers and learning spaces across the school with resources selected specifically to meet the needs of their students.
Through the initiative, Barclays is providing Amazon Wishlist funding for each of 10 classrooms and learning spaces at Nativity Prep – representing a direct investment in the school’s educators and students.
Rather than providing teachers with predetermined supplies, the initiative puts the decision-making directly in the hands of Nativity Prep educators. The school will create their needs list featuring books, specialized supplies, learning tools, instructional materials, and other resources tailored to their subject areas and the needs of their students.
“One of the most meaningful things you can do for an educator is ask, ‘What do you need to help your students thrive?’ and then give them the opportunity to answer that question,” said Dr. Altina Herbert, Principal of Nativity Preparatory School of Wilmington. “This partnership with Barclays does exactly that. Our teachers know their students, they know their classrooms, and they know the resources that can transform a lesson or create a new opportunity for a young person. We are incredibly grateful that Barclays is investing not only in materials, but in our teachers’ ability to make those decisions for their students.”
The partnership also reflects a growing connection between Barclays and Nativity Prep, centered on a shared commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for Nativity students. The initiative is being led by Carrie Edwards, Vice President, Marketing Program Office at Barclays, who is coordinating Barclays’ involvement and helping bring colleagues, resources, and expertise together to support Nativity students and the school community.
The project will extend beyond financial support. After teachers submit their classroom Wishlists, Barclays employee volunteers will complete the shopping process on September 18.
Volunteers will then visit Nativity Prep on September 24th, 2026, to personally deliver the classroom supplies to the school.
The timing is especially meaningful as Nativity Prep begins its 2026–2027 school year. Teachers return to campus on August 25, students begin classes September 8, and the Barclays-supported resources will arrive during the opening weeks of the academic year.
“For our students, seeing members of the community walk through our doors and invest their time, resources, and presence sends an important message,” Herbert added. “It tells our boys that people beyond the walls of their school believe in their potential and want to be part of their success. That is the kind of partnership that has an impact far beyond a box of classroom supplies.”
