Father Joseph W. McQuaide IV delivered a school-wide blessing after celebrating the opening of the school year Mass at Aquinas Academy in Bear on Sept. 10.
In his homily, Father McQuaide urged students to be earnest in their Christ-centered education at the academy, so as to “win souls for Christ with their knowledge and love for the faith as the apostles did at Pentecost.”
Established in 1997, Aquinas Academy is a coeducational Catholic school serving students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. The school’s curriculum provides a well-rounded liberal arts education, fostering intellectual growth and spiritual development, according to the school website, and offers both traditional classroom learning and home school options.
Father McQuaide is chancellor of the Diocese of Wilmington. He is also rector of Cathedral of St. Peter and pastor of St. Patrick and St. Mary of the Assumption churches in Wilmington.
