St. Elizabeth Elementary School has an interim principal this year after Shaquona Meyers decided she needed to spend time with family, according to a letter she wrote to the school community.

“At this pivotal juncture I must prioritize my family, and it is with this in mind that I make this transition,” Meyers wrote in the letter.

Father Roger DiBuo told school families in a letter that St. Elizabeth staff member Adrienne Tolvaisa will serve as interim principal for the next year. Tolvaisa taught third grade at the elementary school and this year was planning to serve as the school’s Scholastica Program coordinator.

Tolvaisa is a longtime St. E. parishioner and graduate of the school, Father DiBuo said.

“We ask God’s blessing upon Ms. Meyers and Ms. Tolvaisa as they both continue forward in their journeys,” he said.

St. Elizabeth is a Pre-K through 12th grade parish school in Wilmington. The school begins this year with an enrollment of 277 elementary school students and 155 high school pupils, both increases from last year, Father DiBuo said.
