School is back in session, and that means things are getting busier for folks around the Diocese of Wilmington. One thing not to miss is the Catholic Business Network breakfast on Sept. 18 which will feature a talk on A.I. Seafood Knights continues in Ocean City on Tuesdays through Sept. 1, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Enjoy home-made fish specialties – and new this year, preorders are available at SeafoodKnights.com. The Ocean City Lady Knights Auxiliary will also be participating each week by collecting school supplies for local students and hosting gift basket raffles to support the many charitable causes and outreach programs they serve. The hall is located at 9901 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, Md. Check it out when you’re at the beach.
St. Hedwig parish once again will mark the solemn anniversary of 9/11 at a 25th anniversary Mass on Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the parish, 408 S. Harrison St., Wilmington. Join Fr. Janusz and the St. Hedwig Community as they remember all our fallen heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country, state and community. On Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m. various locations in the diocese will host the Memorial Service for Aborted Babies. Four churches and two cemeteries in Delaware are participating in this annual day of remembrance: Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington; St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington; Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State St., Dover; and St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes. Cathedral Cemetery, the burial site of 63 aborted babies, is located at 2400 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington, and Gate of Heaven Cemetery, which has the gravesite of seven aborted babies, is at 32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro. Celebrate Blessed Mother’s Birthday with the Legion of Mary at St. Elizabeth Church, on Broom St., in Wilmington on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 8:15 a.m. The day begins with Mass, followed by Rosary, procession around the church grounds, and crowning of the Blessed Mother at the Grotto. The event wraps up with brunch at Grant Hall with guest speaker Ken Pulliam.
Also on Sept. 12, the LOAH Cecil County Division hosts 10 a.m. Mass at St. Patrick’s Chapel, 237 Pleasant Grove Road, in Conowingo. Come see the restoration at this historic church built by Irish immigrants in 1819. There will be refreshments after Mass with music by the Irish Jasper Greens.
