NEW CASTLE — Most of the elementary schools in the Diocese of Wilmington were represented at the annual rosary rally, which was held Oct. 8 at Holy Spirit Church.
Bishop Koenig presided at the prayer service and posed for photos with students from each of the schools in front of the 33-foot tall Shrine of Our Lady Queen of Peace next to the church.
High school students from Saint Mark’s and St. Elizabeth and Padua Academy led their younger counterparts in praying the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary. Children from St. Peter Cathedral and Good Shepherd schools were among the readers. A banner with the Catholic schools’ theme for the year, “We Walk by Faith,” was at the front of the procession into church.
According to Holy Angels School principal, Mary Elizabeth Muir, more than 500 students were in attendance.
The annual event is coordinated by the Catholic Principals Organization, Muir said.
