Four basketball student-athletes at Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Wilmington have reached a career milestone in recent weeks. Za’Mylah Seda-Owens, Latrell Wright, Avery McCall and Bridget Malloy all scored their 1,000th career point.

Seda-Owens, a senior at St. Elizabeth High School in Wilmington, got to 1,000 at the St. E Center on Jan. 20 against Archmere. Seda-Owens attended Penns Grove High School as a freshman before transferring to St. Elizabeth. She has committed to play basketball at Goldey-Beacom College.

Eleven days later, Salesianum School’s Latrell Wright joined the 1,000-point club. Wright, a senior, reached the milestone early in a win over Sanford at the SL24 Basketball Classic at the Chase Fieldhouse. Wright went to Conrad Schools of Science for two years before moving to Salesianum. He has not announced his plans for next year.

The next two athletes reached the mark on the same night, Feb. 10. Avery McCall of SS. Peter and Paul High School in Easton, Md., needed two points against Gunston School, and she scored in the opening minutes to get to 1,000.  A senior, she has been a member of the Sabres’ varsity team since her freshman year. McCall will play lacrosse next year at Temple University.

Later on Feb. 10, Bridget Malloy of Archmere Academy scored her 1,000th point in a loss at Padua. Malloy hit the milestone with just a few seconds remaining in the game on a free throw. Malloy also has been a varsity player since her freshman season with the Auks. She has signed to play basketball at the University of Scranton.
