ASTON, Pa. — Sister Margaret Mary Lewis, formerly Sister John Therese, who was a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 72 years, died in Assisi House on Dec. 31. She was 92.
Sister Margaret served for 21 years in the Diocese of Wilmington as the vice president of St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington. She ministered for 24 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, spending 13 of them at Neumann University as a professor and program director of Clinical Laboratory Services.
Sister also worked in healthcare and education in the archdioceses of Baltimore and Washington, D.C., and in the Diocese of Trenton, N.J.
Sister Margaret had a doctoral degree in medical technology and authored several articles in professional journals and a textbook on clinical parasitology. She also served on various boards.
Services will be Jan. 6 in Assisi House. A Christian wake service begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11. Interment will be at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Aston.
