PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — The Seton Center, a multipurpose center operated by Catholic Charities, has a full schedule in the dog days of August.
The Somerset County Health Department will be at the center every Tuesday through Thursday, and the Lower Shore Workforce Alliance is scheduled to be there on Aug. 19 from 10-2. The center is closed each day from noon- 1 p.m., although the thrift store will remain open during that hour.
Speaking of the thrift store, Aug. 17 is National Thrift Shop Day. Everything will be 50 percent off, and a $10 purchase buys an opportunity to spin a wheel for an additional discount. The hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on the 17th. Regular operating hours are Tuesday-Thursday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. During August, all items in the clothing room is 25 cents, and school uniforms will be available for $1.
The Pantry on the Go will visit Crisfield, Md., on Aug. 21. Compass Health will be there that day as well. The food share program at the Seton Center will be Aug. 22. Signups are $5 and can be done any time before the 22nd.
Seton Center provides assistance to more than 350 families each month. Its wish list for donations this month includes 39-gallon trash bags, boxed oatmeal, cereal and Jello.
In addition, the organization also is accepting donations for the Shelter at Seton, which will open in the facility that formerly housed the Lower Shore Shelter. Items needed for that include laundry detergent; bath towels; copier paper; craft items; drinks and drink mixes; spices and condiments; canned and frozen vegetables; pasta and sauces; and meal kits.
