The families of the Downtown Catholic Churches (Cathedral of St. Peter, St. Mary and St. Patrick) held a “Shower of Love” Oct. 2 at St. Patrick Hall to benefit the babies at Bayard House.

Donations of diapers, clothing, bottles, baby food, and other items were collected and delivered to Bayard House on Oct. 11 by Father Joseph W. McQuaide IV pastor of the three parishes.

Families from all three parishes were in attendance, including children from the parish who gathered to pose with the gifts. Organizers estimate that they collected thousands of diapers, along with all the other items pictured — enough to fill a box truck. Young parishioners Noah, Jacob, Gianna, and Ella Dzielak helped Father McQuaide with the delivery.

Attendees played shower games such as name the babies of the bible; draw a baby while blind folded; finish the nursery rhyme and more. Food for the event was donated by Shop Rite (Kenney Foundation), Acme Markets and Chick Filet A.
