Despite the warm temperatures, parishes in the Diocese of Wilmington are full swing into the usual autumn activities, including upcoming Christmas bazaars and much more. Check out these upcoming events:
• The Silver Rose, a prayer pilgrimage program of the Knights of Columbus honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe, has returned to Delaware. The rose will be making stops at parishes in the state beginning Oct. 13. • Take time to enjoy a beautiful concert on Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. “Os Justi” A Journey Through Darkness and Light, will be presented by Sine Nomine Treble Voices at St. Elizabeth Church, 809 S. Broom St., Wilmington. Sine Nomine is an a cappella choir based in Wilmington and directed by Marion Jacob. The program will include works by Derrick, Tuan, Henson, Palestrina, Daley, Gjeilo, Wright, Von Bingen, and our resident composer, Alexis Renee Ward.
• On Oct. 26, enjoy a History and Mysteries Retreat, which will explore the Holy Rosary. Presented by Kathy Ebner M.A. at St. Polycarp Church, Smyrna. Cost is $15, a continental breakfast and lunch are included. RSVP now to Anna Skinner, 302-883-5647.
• Bring your appetite to St. Matthew’s in Wilmington on Oct. 27, from 8-11:30 a.m. for the Pancake Breakfast and Much More. Cost is $8 per person, and there will be raffles, baked goods, and family fun. Proceeds benefit St. Matthew Food Pantry.
• On Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. you’re invited to the monthly International Night Dinner at the Francis X. Norton Center, 917 North Madison Street, Wilmington. Guest chefs are from Delaware Saengerbund & Library Association celebrating Oktoberfest. • Also on Nov. 2, from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. St. Helena’s will hold the extremely popular Christmas Bazaar and Attic Treasures Flea Market, on the parish grounds at 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington. Early bird admission is $5 to enter at 7 a.m.; free admission after 9 a.m. Extensive flea market, raffles, gift baskets, crafts, book nook, bake table, giving tree and more. Breakfast is served from 7-11 a.m., lunch from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and there will be a Italian dinner by the KofC from 5-7 p.m. More information, (302) 764-0325.
• On Sunday, Nov. 3 celebrate the 12th Annual Feast of St. Elizabeth, at St. Elizabeth Church, 809 S. Broom St., Wilmington. There will be a musical prelude at 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Mass.
