Judge Thomas L. Ambro, and Judge Kent A. Jordan, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, will each receive the St. Thomas More Award at the St. Thomas More Society Annual Dinner on Sunday, May 5 at 6 p.m. at the Wilmington Country Club.
Judge Ambro joined the Third Circuit in February 2000, assuming a seat vacated by Walter K. Stapleton.
Judge Jordan joined the Third Circuit in December 2006, assuming a seat vacated by Jane R. Roth.
The society’s criteria for the St. Thomas More Award are:
– Strong and pervasive sense of justice.
– Personal courage and conviction.
– Commitment to law, community and religion.
– Keen scholarly pursuits and advancement of knowledge.
– High degree of intelligence, honesty and integrity, humility and humor.
– Record of personal sacrifice for the good of the community.
– Dedicated to children, spouse, family and associates.
The first recipient of the award was the Judge Collins J. Seitz, Sr., in 1989.
