WILMINGTON — Marlow Levy has been named the new president of St. Francis Hospital, according to Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, of which the hospital is part. Levy comes to St. Francis from Baptist Health System in Jacksonville, Fla., where he was vice president of operations and system leader for laboratory, environmental health and protective services.

According to Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, Levy has served in numerous high-profile roles in health systems across the country, including the Mayo Clinic, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Sentara Health and Kaiser Permanente.

“His clinical acumen and focus on mission and caring for the underserved makes him the ideal candidate to assume the role of president of St. Francis Hospital,” said James Woodward, president and chief executive officer of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic.

Levy, a Navy veteran, has a nursing degree from Hampton University in Virginia, a master’s of science in management from the Naval Postgraduate School of Business and Public Policy, and an MBA from George Washington University.

“As I step into this role, I am reminded that leadership is not about being in charge but about taking care of those in your charge,” Levy said in a statement. “The Wilmington community looks and feels very much like the community I grew up in and feel deeply connected to. I look forward to being a leader in this community.”

In addition to his professional roles, Levy has volunteered for a number of organizations. He was a mentor and volunteer for 5000 Role Models, which aims to intervene in the lives of minority male youths “to empower them to made good choices and achieve goals,” according to Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic.

He will assume his position at St. Francis on Sept. 4. In addition to his work at St. Francis, Levy will also serve as president of Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Pa.
