WILMINGTON — Jennifer Anthony, currently the science department chair at Westtown School near West Chester, Pa., has been named the new Upper School principal at Ursuline Academy. She will take over in that role beginning July 1.

Anthony has extensive experience in curriculum oversight and faculty development in faith-based communities, according to Ursuline Academy. She began her career in education as an assistant professor at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia after earning a doctoral degree in microbiology from the University of Wisconsin and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California.

She moved to the high school level and eventually became the science department chair at Salesianum School.

“I am deeply honored and thrilled to join Ursuline Academy as the Upper School principal,” Anthony said in a statement. “I look forward to collaborating with the entire Ursuline community to uphold our values, inspire excellence, and nurture the growth of every student. I am committed to honoring cherished traditions of the school’s rich history while embracing innovation and progress.”

Ursuline president Trisha Medeiros said after Anthony’s on-campus visit, “it was clear that Jennifer was the right person to lead Ursuline’s Upper School into the future.”

Anthony will succeed Jeffrey Danilak, who has been the principal since 2019-20.
