First, there were a few days of football, and last week high school sports started on Wednesday. This week, it’s back to six days of soccer volleyball and all the other fall sports around the Diocese of Wilmington.
The action includes an old volleyball rivalry, and the Saint Mark’s soccer team gets busy with three matches in six days. The field hockey team at SS. Peter and Paul will do the same, although their season is already underway.

Friday, Sept. 18
Archmere (1-0) at Saint Mark’s (0-2), 7 p.m. The Auks and Spartans went down to the wire last season in Claymont, and they bring their entertaining series to the Pike Creek area. Archmere’s offense is under the direction of quarterback Shane Harding, while Kyle Iudica is the starter for Saint Mark’s. Expect a lively scene at the Graveyard.
Wilmington Charter (1-0) at St. Elizabeth (1-1), 7 p.m. at Abessinio Stadium. The Force and Vikings have one common opponent already in First State Military. Both teams defeated the Bulldogs. Charter brought the offense in their win over FSMA, while St. Elizabeth will try to get their scoring back on track.
