SCRANTON, Pa. — Sister Dolores M. Filicko, who ministered for a few years in the Diocese of Wilmington, died Aug. 18 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa. She was 96 and had been a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary for 73 years.
A native of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Sister Dolores entered the IHM Sisters in 1952, with final profession of vows in 1958. She ministered primarily in education, including two years at Saint Mark’s High School in Wilmington from 1969-71. She also taught in various schools in northeastern Pennsylvania.
After leaving Saint Mark’s, she served in various roles at Marywood College in Scranton from 1971-2010. Sister Dolores worked for Friends of the Poor and on the staff of the UHM Center, both in Scranton, until 2018, when she moved into prayer ministry.
Funeral services will be Aug. 27. A viewing begins at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Residence, 1510 University Ave., Dunmore, Pa., with the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, Pa.
