Most teams have hit the courts, mats, track or pool by now, getting in a few events before Christmas brings a break or a tournament. Two of the biggest meets on the wrestling schedule take place this weekend, as the Beast of the East brings some of the top talent in the country to Newark, and William Penn hosts the Howdy Duncan Invitational.
On the boys’ basketball front, Archmere gets going this week after its football team reached the state championship game the week before. Several of the Auks also played football. In girls basketball, Ss. Peter and Paul makes a trip to Wilmington to battle Padua. Several teams will test themselves against non-traditional opponents.
Indoor track teams will be traveling for events in New York and nearby Chester County, Pa.
As usual, it’s not a bad idea to confirm dates and times before making the trip.
