PHILADELPHIA – Annie Penrod of Archmere Academy went three-for-three and scored two runs to lead Delaware North to a 3-2 win over Delaware County West in the Carpenter Cup Softball tournament on June 26 at FDR Park in south Philadelphia. That was the team’s third game of the day. Delaware North dropped a heartbreaker to Suburban One in its opener. After taking a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Suburban One bounced back to take a 4-3 lead into the sixth. North tied it up, but fell on a walkoff run in the bottom of the seventh. Penrod singled and scored in that game.

In the second game, against Mid-Penn, North scored twice in the fourth inning, enough for a 2-1 win. Appoquinimink’s Mallory Weir reached base to open the inning and scored on a double by Clare Henry of Delaware Military Academy. Henry would come around to score on a pair of wild pitches.
