The Ministry for Black Catholics of the Diocese of Wilmington will hold an ecumenical candle-lighting prayer service for the victims of gun violence in Delaware. It will take place on Oct. 23 at St. Elizabeth Church, 809 S. Broom St., Wilmington, from 6-8 p.m.
The evening will include a musical prelude by Sine Nomine, directed by Marion Jacob. Sine Nomine is an a cappella choir based in Wilmington. Other music will be provided by soloist Nanette Archie Snow and musician Jaquine Williams, along with the Wilmington Diocese Gospel Choir.
Anne McWalters of Moms Demand Action will give an update on legislative action in Delaware related to gun safety. The keynote speaker is Rev. Michael Teague.
The ceremony is part of Peace Week Delaware, which runs from Oct. 19-27. This is the ninth annual Peace Week, a statewide series of events and activities raising awareness and hope for peace. A full schedule of activities is available at www.peaceweekdelawre.org.
