A baby shower to benefit Bayard House was held by Downtown Catholic.

The downtown churches of Cathedral of Saint Peter, Saint Mary and Saint Patrick hosted the third annual baby shower in honor of Bayard House on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Bayard House, facilitated by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington, provides 24/7 care to at-risk, pregnant, homeless, newly parenting adolescents, young women and their babies. Services include residential maternity care, diaper bank and pregnancy counseling.

Along with parishioners from the three parishes, guests at the shower included Stacey Brooks, director of Bayard House, Ruth Ann White, Director of Catholic Charities, and Ellie, one of the mothers in residence at Bayard House.

In addition to the numerous gifts that included car seats, strollers, diapers, clothing, bottles, formula and other baby necessities, money was raised in a raffle for a handmade quilt created and donated by a parishioner. As of Oct. 8, approximately $4,500 in items were collected according to the parish.
