CHILDS, Md. — Father Robert G. Reece, a professed member of the Oblate of St. Francis de Sales for 66 years, died Dec. 6. He was 86.
Father Reece was a Philadelphia native who entered the Oblates upon his graduation from Northeast Catholic High School. He was ordained in 1965 and ministered as a teacher at two Oblate high schools. After leaving education, he served as the chaplain of the Bernardine Franciscans in Reading, Pa., and had lived at the Oblate residence in Wyndmoor, Pa., from 2009-20. He retired to Childs in April 2020.
Father Reece was predeceased by his twin brother, Oblate Father Richard T. Reece, who died last February. He is survived by an older brother, Edward J., and a cousin, Mary Doyle, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was said Dec. 14, with interment at the Oblate Cemetery. Donations in Father Reece’s name can be made to the Oblate Development Fund, P.O. Box 87, Childs, MD 21916-0087.
