Christ the Teacher Catholic School’s Music Honor Society chose Exceptional Care for Children (ECC) to receive the funds from their 2024 Variety Show held on Saturday, Feb. 24. The show raised $1016.25, along with other collected gifts.

Exceptional Care for Children (ECC) in Newark is a refuge of hope and support for children needing specialized care. The organization strives to improve the lives of these children and their families by providing skilled nursing and transitional and palliative care.

The evening event included entertainment, concessions, raffles and a 50/50. The performance was free, but cash donations and new baby clothing, supplies, and toys were collected for the organization.

ECC Development Manager Autumn Majewski acknowledged the gift and a large assortment of diapers, books, toys, and clothing. “This generous gift will enable us to continue a legacy of love and support for children who are medically fragile,” she said.

This year’s show featured 18 acts starring CTTCS students, parents, and graduates.

There is only one practice for the show, held the afternoon before the evening performance. “Every year, our students handle all the responsibilities for the show, and miraculously, it all comes together,” said Rick Johson, Music Teacher at CTTCS and moderator of the Honor Society.

Christ the Teacher Catholic School (CTTCS) has sponsored a Tri-M® Music Honor Society chapter since 2016. Membership in the Society is open to academically capable and musically gifted students in grades 6 through 12. Members develop confidence, creativity, critical thinking, compassion, and leadership skills through performance and community service.

“I am so proud of our Tri-M Music Honor Society Members. Our students embody the pillars of mercy, hospitality, service, and excellence. Their hard work and compassion for the community is admirable. The Variety Show was the highlight of the year thus far,” said Principal Kelly Lanza.

Exceptional Care for Children is a haven for healing fragile bodies when improvement is possible and a refuge for nurturing vulnerable spirits when a cure is unattainable. To learn how Christ the Teacher Catholic School is educating Saints and Scholars, log on to https://www.cttcs.org/.
