For this Easter season, the Holy Family Parish Women’s Group checked with Linda Jablonski, who is in charge of the parish outreach office in Newark, on how the group could help out at the Outreach Food Pantry.

“She told us she wished we could provide Easter baskets to the children of families who are helped through our food pantry,” said Marilyn Vallejo, president of the women’s group. “We all voted happily to provide Easter baskets to 40 children. She was grateful since no Easter baskets had been given out for a few years now.

Erin Liberti, treasurer, and Vallejo went to many stores until they had all the toys, plastic buckets and candies needed.

“Last night at our monthly Women’s Group meeting, after praying the Rosary, we started filling the baskets with chocolate bunnies, crayons, coloring books, crackers, candies, Rice Krispy treats, stickers, and chocolate eggs,” Vallejo said.

“This morning, Emma Jean Lynch, secretary, Erin Liberti, treasurer, Irene Gracias and I wrapped every basket, separating those for the 5 year olds and younger from those for children 6 years to 11 years of age,” Vallejo said. “After completing our baskets, our associate pastor, Father Christopher Hanley, came and blessed our Easter baskets and us as well.”
