The Latin American Community Center posthumously honored Franciscan Father Chris Posch at its annual grand ball in October. Brother Chris, as he was known, was named the LACC’s Community Champion in recognition of his commitment and service on behalf of the Latino community in the Diocese of Wilmington.

Brother Chris served in the diocese as director of Hispanic ministry for nearly 18 years until 2016. Maria Matos, president and chief executive of the LACC, said he was “an unwavering advocate for immigrants and the immigrant community.”

The grand ball was held for the first time since 2019 and was the first opportunity to honor Brother Chris since his death in 2020.

A video shown at the ball highlighted his contributions and featured testimonials from those who knew him. Following the announcement, a plaque honoring Brother Chris was installed at the LACC’s new infant and toddler center on Fourth Street in Wilmington.
