The Respect Life Committee at St. Ann Parish in Bethany Beach will hold an event May 9 that includes prayer, dinner and a speaker.

The day begins at 3 p.m. with adoration in St. Ann Church, followed by the Divine Mercy Chaplet, including the Pope John Paul II apostolic blessings. Benediction will take place at 3:50 p.m., and there will be a Mass at 4.

After dinner in the parish hall, Terry Beatley, the author of “What If We’ve Been Wrong? Keeping My Promise to America’s ‘Abortion King,’” will speak. It is based on a 2009 interview with Dr. Bernard Nathanson, the co-founder of NARAL Pro-Choice America and one of the country’s leading abortion practitioners. Nathanson, terminally ill at the time, delivered a message to Beatley to expose the truth of the abortion industry. Beatley promised Nathanson that she would teach Americans the truth of what he did.

Beatley is also the president of the Hosea Initiative, a nonprofit organization determined to help the world heal from abortion. The Hosea Initiative is part of the effort that resulted from the meeting between Beatley and Nathanson.
