Saginaw church records, computers seized in probe of abuse allegations

SAGINAW, Mich. — The news that law enforcement authorities served the Saginaw Diocese with a search warrant March 22 was “distressing and disheartening for the greater community and most especially our Catholic faithful,” a diocesan spokesman acknowledged.

Chris Pham, a communications specialist for the diocese, made the comments in a statement sent late evening March 23 to Catholic News Service and other news media.

Archbishop Vigneron elected next USCCB secretary beginning fall 2018

BALTIMORE (CNS) — Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron of Detroit will be the next secretary of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, taking office next November.
