WOODCREST – St. Mark’s battled in its boys volleyball match at Conrad, but the Red Wolves had too much firepower and swept the Spartans, 3-0, on the afternoon of May 10.

St. Mark’s – who dressed just seven players – had few answers for the Red Wolves’ Logan Muller. The senior hitter led a potent attack with 12 kills, and he threw in a block for good measure. John Hoopes had four kills, while Nicholas Shortlidge added three. Read more »

WILMINGTON – Ryan Bradigan pitched a complete-game two-hitter to lead top-ranked Conrad past No. 7 St. Mark’s, 3-0, on April 23.

The Red Wolves’ offense had no easy task as it had to face Spartans starter Billy Sullivan. Red Wolves Kyle Walker led off with a double but was thrown out trying to stretch it to a triple. Spartans centerfielder Austin Colmery fired the ball to Brian Gilardi, who nailed the runner at third as Chris Ludman applied the tag. That play came in handy as Brock Nowell doubled two batters later, but Sullivan got out of the jam. CLAYMONT – Archmere took a 3-3 tie into the seventh inning against undefeated Conrad on April 18, but the veteran Red Wolves pushed across two runs in the final frame to escape with a 5-3 win in Diamond State Athletic Conference action.

Conrad’s Kyle Maxwell walked to open the seventh, and a wild pitch and stolen base moved him to third. Teammate Kyle Walker laid down a suicide squeeze bunt, bringing Maxwell home with the go-ahead run. There was no play at first on the bunt, and Walker had a single. MILLTOWN – The young Conrad Red Wolves scored 31 first-half points and held off St Mark’s, 57-33, on Feb. 16.  The Conrad victory took some of the shine off of the senior night celebration for the Spartans’ Emily Coyle and Hailey Langan.

basketballThe Red Wolves jumped out to a 12-0 lead as freshman Julie Kulesza hit a deep three-pointer and two foul shots. Jordan Rook and Alyssa Faville each hit three-pointers in that opening run. Kulesza added six more first-quarter points as she connected on another triple, then had an old-fashioned three-point play to give the Red Wolves an 18-4 lead.

The Red Wolves got eight second-quarter points from Faville, and Kulesza hit another three as they grabbed a 31-12 lead at the break.

The Spartans played better in the second half as four players made three-point shots, and they played the Red Wolves close to even. Julie Kulesza added four points in the third quarter, while her sister Stefanie had six fourth-quarter points. Coyle and Langan hit three-pointers in the fourth for the Spartans.

Coyle led the Spartans with six points as they finished the season at 5-15. The Red Wolves (18-1) got 18 points from Julie Kulesza and 13 from Faville. They host A.I. DuPont on Wednesday at 5 p.m. to wrap up the regular season.
