NEWARK – O’Koye Parker hit a free throw with 2.4 seconds remaining on the clock to life 19th-seeded Caravel past No. 2 St. Thomas More, 48-47, in the semifinal round of the boys’ state basketball tournament March 9 at the Bob Carpenter Center. The Buccaneers will advance to meet Smyrna for the title on Saturday.

Ravens hold off Appoquinimink, advance to boys hoops semis for first time

NEWARK – St. Thomas More has advanced to the DIAA boys basketball tournament semifinal round for the first time after beating a pesky Appoquinimink team, 48-40, on March 5 at the Bob Carpenter Center. The Ravens, 19-3 and seeded second, raced out to a 13-point halftime lead and withstood a Jags rally to advance, where they will meet No. 19 Caravel on Thursday night. Read more »

Fourth-quarter surge gives Ravens much-needed win

CHESTER, Pa. – St. Thomas More’s boys basketball team did not have much time between games on Thursday night and Friday at noon, and coach Cheston Boyd was concerned about how it would affect his team. On top of that, they had given up a late lead and suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss on Thursday.

Well, the Ravens answered their coach on both fronts. They had the legs to play with a lot of energy in their second game in 18 hours, and they overcame an eight-point deficit to defeat Coatesville (Pa.) in the 12th annual Pete and Jameer Nelson Classic on the campus of Widener University.
