Wilmington native Sister Jean Marie Odachowski dies at 102

LODI, N.J. – Felician Sister Jean Marie Odachowski, a native of Wilmington, died June 11 at the Immculate Conception Convent infirmary in Lodi, N.J. She was 102 and had been a Felician for 85 years.

Sister Jean Marie was formerly known as Sister Mary Fulginette. Born Mary Odachowski, she was a graduate of St. Hedwig School in Wilmington before attending the Felician Sisters’ High School Aspirancy in Lodi. Read more »

Plans filed for development of Our Lady of Grace site

NEWARK — The Felician Sisters of North America have submitted an exploratory site plan to New Castle County regarding the development of their property near Holy Family Church in Newark into a residential development.

The site, at 487 Chestnut Hill Road, was the longtime home of Our Lady of Grace Home, which opened in 1931 as a Felician-sponsored orphanage and later a group home for children. Children’s services ceased in 2009, and the Felician Sisters left the residence in 2014. Read more »
