‘Night to Shine’ is night to remember at St. Christopher’s

St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Chester, Md., joined over 540 other churches in all 50 states and in 16 countries to hold the “Night to Shine” prom Feb. 9 for people with special needs. “Night to Shine” is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, and this year more than 90,000 guests attended, supported by more than 175,000 volunteers. St. Christopher’s was one of nine churches in Maryland to participate, and the only Catholic Church on the Delmarva peninsula.

Big ‘Night to Shine’ comes to tiny Kent Island

CHESTER, Md. – Paige Bailey is very excited for a special prom next Friday, Feb. 9, more so than she was when she attended the prom at Kent Island High School last year.

“She realizes this one is really special,” said her mother, Bridgitte Bailey. “Most of her classmates have not been to [the high school] prom but will be at this one.”

Catholics help groups provide Thanksgiving meals to the needy

Volunteers will fan out across southern Queen Anne’s County, Md.,  the Saturday before Thanksgiving, bringing something to be thankful about to some 400 families.

The Feed-a-Family volunteers will deliver food baskets containing turkeys, chickens, and items for all the trimmings of a traditional Thanksgiving meal, courtesy of a dozen churches, local businesses, schools, and other organizations from Centreville to the tip of Kent Island. Read more »
