Five-run fifth carries Sals past Sussex Tech in first game of twinbill

WILMINGTON – Salesianum shut down Sussex Tech’s potent offense and broke open a close game with five runs in the fifth inning in a 8-4 nonconference baseball win on April 18 at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington. It was the first of a pair of games for the Sals on the day; they defeated St. Mark’s in the nightcap.

The Sals, who were the visiting team despite playing just a few miles from their Broom Street campus, did not waste any time getting on the board. Walks to Josh Maguire and John Andreoli, followed by an error, loaded the bases with no outs. Tech starter Brady Parks struck out Joe Setting, but Zach Gwynn followed with a single to left field that scored two runs. Parks settled down after that, and the Sals would not score again until the fifth. Read more »

Raiders roll to semifinal, face rematch with Sanford

NEWARK – Top-seeded Ursuline put on a dominating opening half of basketball as they cruised past eighth-seeded Sussex Tech, 55-27, in the quarterfinal round of the DIAA girls basketball tournament March 4 at the Bob Carpenter Center.

WILMINGTON – Sussex Tech traveled from Georgetown to Wilmington on April 27, and the Ravens made sure the trip was worth it. They scored three runs in the first inning, which proved to be all they needed in a 5-0 win over host Salesianum. Read more »

Sals seniors shine on their night vs. Sussex Tech

WILMINGTON – Four Salesianum seniors started Feb. 20 when the Sals hosted Sussex Tech in a nonconference basketball game, and the veterans helped their team take a 67-55 battle against the winless Ravens.

The seniors, along with sophomore Paul Brown, stayed in the game for the entire first quarter and put up 19 points. Brown led the way with six, but all four seniors scored. Luke Bianchino had five to lead the seniors in the first. Read more »

Auks overwhelm Sussex Tech, advance in boys lacrosse tourney

CLAYMONT – Archmere took the suspense out of Wednesday’s boys lacrosse game against Sussex Tech early, scoring nine times in the first quarter en route to a 21-7 win in the first round of the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association playoffs. The Auks, seeded seventh, advance to meet No. 2 Cape Henlopen Saturday at 4 p.m. in Lewes. Cape was a 17-3 winner over Smyrna. Read more »
