No matter what the spring sport, teams from Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Wilmington will be playing them almost every day this week. Some of that is due to rain earlier this month, and some is just the grind of the regular season.
Two lacrosse games stand out. In the Diamond State Athletic Conference, Wilmington Charter visits Archmere to see who is in the driver’s seat for the conference title. On Friday, two nationally ranked teams do battle when Lawrenceville (N.J.) travels to Salesianum.
Track also steps into the spotlight this week. Wilmington Charter hosts a mini-meet on Tuesday, and the Penn Relays take place in Philadelphia later in the week.

Wilmington Charter (6-1) at Archmere, 3:45 p.m. The Auks welcome the Force, with the winner in control in the Diamond State Athletic Conference. Domenick Paoli and James Moen are among the scorers for Charter, which has shown a knack for winning close games. The Auks record reflects the difficulty of the early season schedule. The team has a number of offensive options, and Zidane Brena has been solid in goal.
Saint Mark’s (6-1) at St. Andrew’s (4-4), 4 p.m.
Friday, April 26
Lawrenceville (N.J.) at Salesianum (10-0), 6 p.m. Salesianum has played several teams that have gotten national recognition, and Lawrenceville is another game that will receive attention outside Abessinio Stadium. The Big Red spent some time ranked first in the country this season, but they’re likely to have their hands full with the Sals. Salesianum has been climbing the national rankings with some big wins.
