The second half of the spring sports regular season brings with it at the outset some very enticing games. The soccer pitch at Saint Mark’s High School will be a popular venue this week for undefeated teams who may or may not be undefeated once the games are over.
It’s also a big week for spring track. The Penn Relays take place at historic Franklin Field on the University of Pennsylvania campus. Before that, however, Wilmington Charter will host its first mini-meet of the season.
Although the sun may be shining at game time, don’t forget to confirm dates and times before making the trip. Schedules are always subject to change.

Caravel (6-0) at Saint Mark’s (6-0), 4 p.m. Three teams in Division II enter this week undefeated, and Saint Mark’s, which is one of them, plays the other two. The first is against Caravel, who can score, but the Bucs’ calling card is its defense. They have allowed exactly one goal all season; goalkeeper Taylor Fitzgerald has been outstanding. The Spartans score the most goals per game in the state in Division II, with Lily Phillips and Emma Manley leading the way.

Sussex Academy (6-0) at Saint Mark’s, 4 p.m. The Seahawks bring their perfect record up from Georgetown. They have five shutouts in six games. The senior-laden squad will present a difficult challenge.

The Riders are undefeated against in-state competition. The Auks have some talented scorers of their own, including Bella Hughes and Ellie DeLuca.
