DOVER — Mallory O’Mara-Tunell, a fifth-grade teacher at St. John the Beloved School in Wilmington, will become the new principal at Holy Cross School in Dover effective July 1. She will succeed Linda Pollitt, who is retiring.

The announcement was made by Father James Lentini, the pastor of Holy Cross Parish.

O’Mara “is a product of Catholic education herself and comes with high praise from her school’s leadership as well as from our Diocesan Catholic Schools Office.” According to Father Lentini, she recently earned a master’s degree in school leadership from Wilmington University. She received her bachelor’s degree in human development from Washington College in Chestertown, Md.

In addition to her teaching, O’Mara-Tunell has served with the Middle States Association as part of a leadership team that oversees the accreditation process for schools. She has been involved in a number of initiatives at St. John the Beloved, including serving as a mentor for new teachers and facilitating the school’s Spanish fair.

She is a parishioner at St. Joseph Parish in Middletown.
