Eleven Saint Mark’s High School students are in China for the next week on an educational and recreational visit.
Marcela Caro, a world language teacher and adviser to the Model UN Club at the school, is leading the delegation. Saint Mark’s is one of many schools from across the country to have a group visit China, Caro said.
“I thought this was a good opportunity for the kids to get exposed to another culture,” Caro said June 15, when the group gathered at Saint Mark’s before their departure.
Before leaving for New York’s JFK International Airport, the students met at the school. There, they went through some last-minute paperwork, received a blessing from Saint Mark’s teacher Deacon Pat Johnston, and bade farewell to their parents. They are scheduled to return June 23. The Dialog has invited the students to share their experiences once they get back home.
